Took this ferry round trip from northport to washington island. I believe the ferries ran more frequently than stated in the brochure probably due to demand. Stores shops restaurants lodging camping marinas golfing fishing plus nearby rock island state park. And beyond that is the county s northernmost park.

Bring your own auto the island is 7 miles across or tour or ride a bicycle. I would highly recommend taking a car to washington island as that is the best way to see the island. When you reach the end of highway 42 at the tip of wisconsin s door county peninsula you ll find northport pier and the washington island ferry line. It was 27 for our car and 14 for adults.

At a reasonable 11 for a round trip 15 minute ride each way dogs were free we made our way to rock island. Unlike the car ferry you take to get to washington island from the mainland the karfi ferry to rock island only holds about 50 passengers max no cars.
