Metal stamping is a cold forming process that makes use of dies and stamping presses to transform sheet metal into different shapes. Dies also can contain cutting and forming sections made from carbide or various other hard wear resistant. Forming dies were typically made by tool and die makers and put into production after mounting into a press the die was a metal block that was used for forming materials like sheet metal and plastic for the vacuum forming of plastic sheet only a single form was used typically to form transparent plastic containers called blister packs for merchandise.

The die stamping presses are used to transform the sheet metal into different sizes and shapes. The die s cutting and forming sections typically are made from special types of hardenable steel called tool steel.
